Highlighting Henry Stunz: Stunz had a shop at 901 Ridge Street -- corner of Chestnut and Ridge streets -- at least from 1894, where he sold shoes and also repaired them. This 1894 ad for his "old reliable shoe store" comes from Carol Jones; here's a rare packet of actual shoe buttons, buttonhook, and button hole piercer from his store; the1890 ad for Henry Stunz boots and shoes is from the Freeland Tribune. He was still listed there for shoe repairs in the 1928-1929 directory.
