Peter Sauer
I am an undergraduate at Carnegie Mellon University studying Biological Sciences and Statistics/Machine Learning. I am advised by Prof. Taylor and mentored by Vismaya Walawalkar, both in the Microsystems and Mechanobiology Lab.
Current Projects
Currently, I am studying how DNA Origami conformational changes when subjected to an electrical field and characterizing the capacitive response of a CMOS chip when labeled with DNA Origami.
Previous Undergraduate Research Experience
Research Intern -- University of Washington Jun. 2021 – Sept. 2021 - Investigated the usage of manifolds for mode-free control of neural prosthetics as part of the UW CNT REU program - Designed the experiment, determining what tasks and hand gestures to peform as data for an auto-encoder
Research Assistant -- Carnegie Mellon University Sept. 2020 – Jun. 2021 - Created a graphical interface for a reinforcment learning model that mimicked human decision-making and learning skills - Assisted with PhD students, discussed with the members of the Verstynen lab in weekly meetings
