Prerequisite: 90-757 Principles of Arts Marketing Required For: MAM Students are required to take this course or 90-706 Visual Arts Management. This course is designed to provide an introduction to the economic and managerial aspects of American performing arts - with an emphasis on the American theatre, since that is the instructor's personal strength. It will present a historical overview of the development of professional theatre in this country and its on-going development. This course seeks to acquaint theatre organizations with the rudiments of hierarchical artistic organizations on both a practical and psychological level. It hopes to explore in-depth the immense gray area existing between the artist and manager, art and business.
