Internship Placement Program   Apply now!

The IAESTE Placement Program matches U.S. university students majoring in technical fields with paid internships abroad. Positions are available in industry, research institutes and universities, consulting firms, labs, and other work environments. Most placements are for 8-12 weeks during the summer, but fall and longer-term placements are also available.

    Eligibility
  • Must be currently enrolled full-time in a bachelor's, master's, or Ph.D. program at an accredited U.S. college or university at the time of application. International students studying in the U.S. are welcome to apply to the Placement Program; U.S. students studying abroad through a U.S. institution are eligible as long as you are still considered to be enrolled in the U.S. university.
  • Must have attained junior-level standing or above by the time of the internship. Graduating seniors and graduate students may also apply.
  • Must be enrolled in a technical field of study.
  • Must be between the ages of 19 and 30.
  • Must be fluent in English. Foreign language skill requirements vary by position.

    Application and Placement Timeline
  • Before Jan 10th: Application deadline. Basic information about you, your major, where you're interested in going, your resume, and a statement of interest. Students who apply before Dec 1st may be given priority.
  • Jan 30th - Feb 8th: Job list comes out. Additional information uploaded (transcript, proof of enrollment, essays), and your job preferences.
  • Feb 19th: 2nd round internship applications begin.
  • March - May: Students are nominated for positions. If they are accepted, their application is sent to the employer, who will accept or reject it. Upon acceptance, students will take steps to prepare to go abroad for their internship.

    Tips when applying:
  • You can increase your chances by participating in the local committee.
  • Being flexible about where your internship may be opens up more options for placement.
  • When listing internship preference, don't list something that you aren't qualified for. If an employer lists a certain skill, they are looking for that skill for this particular position.
  • There are scholarships for internships to certain locations.
  • 2nd round internship applicants:
    • Pick the best positions suited for you. (You can see the job list here.)
    • 2nd round applicants are considered when a qualified 1st round applicant is not found, so apply as soon as possible!
