POSTDOCTORAL POSITION

The research laboratory of Prof. Rebecca Taylor at Carnegie Mellon University is seeking to recruit and support a postdoctoral research fellow!

Overview:

The Microsystems and Mechanobiology research laboratory is a highly collaborative and enthusiastic group, dedicated to the development of micro and nanoscale mechanical systems. This innovative research laboratory is developing DNA nanotechnologies for applications in cellular communications, mechanosensing, nanorobotics and targeted delivery. We are specifically looking for a postdoctoral fellow who can design and synthesize DNA origami nanostructures for targeted gene delivery applications.

Candidates with experience in cellular bioengineering and/or DNA nanotechnology will be considered. This is a multidisciplinary field so candidates could come from a wide variety of fields in science and engineering. For example, our team consists of scientists and engineers from across multiple fields, including physics, chemistry, chemical engineering, biomedical engineering and mechanical engineering.

This would be a 1-2 year appointment with the possibility of re-appointment depending on availability of funding.

Weitao has been awarded a Dowd Fellowship!

Congratulations to Weitao Wang on his 2022 Dowd Fellowship award. His project is entitled "A DNA nanoshell for nanoencapsulation and protection of cells".

Rebekah, your creativity and artistic skill reminds me of the paintings by Maria Klawe, the President of Harvey Mudd College. To quote Prof. Klawe: "Today, I show paintings whenever I try to recruit students to engineering. I want them to know that many leading engineers and scientists are artists, musicians, dancers, or writers. Engineering and science are creative disciplines. It shouldn’t be surprising that the creative energy, passion, and talent cross into other areas. I can’t imagine living without painting. It’s a form of expression of ideas and emotion that I cannot express through any other medium."
