Our inspiration (and therefore our initial research) came from looking at magazines and discussing our own cooking experiences and how we use our own kitchens. We then tried to think about why we do these things, and what kind of different kitchen situations would effect how you use the kitchen.

Some websites used for thought, research, and inspiration:

A study of the way people process information and interruptions in the kitchen.

Looked here for pictures of kitchens, interesting look at how we might set up our scenes.

A source of creative and aesthetic inspiration.

We also discussed a target demographic - what kind of person would use our product. We determined that some of the most experienced cooks would not need the assistance or want it; they would want to do things their own way. Some of the least experienced cooks would probably not be willing to spend as much as it would cost.

We decided that we would have to target someone in the middle, who wanted to increase their cooking skill, or at least make it look like they had. It might be someone climbing the social ladder, or impressing friends and dates, or hoping to have a better organized and safer kitchen.
