54-753 Graduate Structural Design I

Units: 9.0 Department: Drama Cross-listed: 54-353 Related URLs: http://www.cmu.edu/cfa/drama/ This class introduces the fundamentals of Allowable Stress Design, including stress analysis, geometric properties, and the design of wood beams and columns. Upon completion of this course, students should be familiar with forces, stresses and strains, stress analysis for beams, geometric properties of structural sections, sawn lumber beam design and wood column analysis and design. Lecture/discussion format. Students should be conversant with Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry. No Calculus is required.
