This course is a detailed study of Europe beginning with the Versailles Treaty and ending with the Nazi attack of Poland on September 1, 1939. It will explore the economic recovery of Europe and the subsequent retreat from democracy in Germany, Italy and the Soviet Union. The course will examine Fascism, and Soviet communism as well as the rise of Hitler, Mussolini, and Stalin, which culminated with the outbreak of WWII
