This third course in the laboratory sequence is an advanced synthesis course that covers a variety of synthetic methods for preparation of organic, inorganic, or organometallic compounds. Methods for isolation, purification, and characterization of compounds are integrated into the experiments. Synthetic strategy is introduced by means of a design project that involves use of the literature. 2 hrs. lec., 6 hrs. lab.
