Concrete Framing Homework (15 pts)

Due Date: 2007.04.10 (since I was late posting this, you can be late turning it in w/o penalty)

Assignment

Each of you has obtained enough water, Portland cement, flyash, sand and gravel to mix 50 cubic yards of concrete slab. Design one rectangular, site cast concrete, two story structure and one rectangular, precast concrete, two story structure. Both schemes should utilize all of the concrete with no waste for the slabs, while you are allowed to add concrete for the girders, beams, joists and columns.

Using the analog drawing conventions introduced in class, compose a set of drawings on ANSI "B" (11" x 17") sheets containing the following drawings with all framing members, room labels, section marks, notes, dimensions and grid lines.

  1. The second floor framing plan at 1/4"=1'-0" include all framing members, labels, section marks, notes, dimensions and grid lines.
  2. Building section at 1/4"=1'-0" cut through the secondary structure.
  3. Large scale corner details - plan and 2 sections at 1 1/2"=1'-0". (do not show the enclosure - we are only interested in the framing at this point. )

Please submit your drawings to the designated space in the entrance of the Robert L. Preger Intelligent Workplace™.

Use the depth to span ratios from the class handout.
