Lecture 16: Predicates on Data Types

We introduce predicates on data types as a way of internalizing propositions about elements of the types. This permits their formal expression and formal proof of some of their properties. Equality and order on the natural numbers are the basic examples considered. The principle of induction can then be expressed, and some basic inductive arguments formalized.
