I enjoy sports, music and art.  I started skiing in high school, tennis in college, and golf right after I joined IBM in 1985.  After working for IBM in Japan for four years I received an IBM scholarship for my Ph.D. at MIT in Boston from 1989 to 1993.  It was busy, but fun four years.  While working on my Ph.D. thesis I played tennis and golf regularly, went out for skiing every winter, enjoyed jazz and symphony, and took some art classes including etching, Japanese calligraphy, and black and white photography.  Since my wife, Betticlare, and I moved to Pittsburgh in 1996 we have been enjoying many family-oriented activities with our two children.
