From: Erik Michaels-Ober (ekmichae@andrew.cmu.edu)
Date: Wed Nov 12 2003 - 17:31:47 EST

The United States Student Association (USSA) is a student-run organization
with millions of members across the nation that believes education is a
right, not a privilege.

I am starting a Carnegie Mellon campus chapter of USSA with the following
goals:
1. Expand retention and recruitment programs for underrepresented students
2. Stop unwarranted tuition increases
3. Improve campus safety
4. Build coalitions with like-minded organizations
5. Organize students to affect issues of educational access at local,
state, and federal levels
6. Increase awareness of educational access issues on campus
7. Make Carnegie Mellon a member of the USSA

The inaugural meeting will be held in the University Center Wright Room on
Wednesday, November 19, at 7:00PM. There will be free pizza. Please reply
to this e-mail if you plan to attend.
