CMU Activists:

I think most of you have already heard about the training workshops
happening this coming weekend at CMU and in Garfield by the nation's
best known activist training group, the Ruckus Society. If not,
information is below.

This is the first time the Ruckus Society has come to Pittsburgh and
a one-time opportunity to attend their workshops for FREE! This is
targeted especially towards those actively involved in environmental and
social justice organizing -- so student leaders, this is for YOU.

SPACE IS LIMITED. In order to register, you MUST email
mtoups@andrew.cmu.edu by TUESDAY OCTOBER 21st at NOON. If
you think you are already registered, email anyway to confirm.
You must list which workshops you can attend (1-4 are listed
in the schedule below).

Approximately half of the workshops are designed for training activists
in anti-oppression (racism, sexism, classism and homophobia) within
organizations and groups, while the other time will be spent on nonviolent
direct action training. All of these things are crucial to the work you
are doing!

more info:

The Ruckus Society is an organization that provides training and
resources in order to support human rights and environmental organizers in
the use of non-violent direct action techniques. It is dedicated to
fostering leadership of those most affected by the injustice and
oppression we struggle against, and aims to prioritize the voices and
visions of youth, women, people of color, indigenous people and
immigrants, poor and working class folks, lesbian, gay, bisexual, and
transgendered people, and other historically marginalized communities.
