Speak Your Mind: Diversity Discussion and Dinner

Speak Your Mind is a series of discussions and dinners which focus on issues of diversity in a comfortable and casual environment. Join us for the next Speak Your Mind discussion United Farm Workers: A Decade Since Chavez facilitated by Prof. John Soluri, History Department. The discussion and dinner will take place on Tuesday, October 15th from 5:30-7pm in the Henderson House lounge.

2003 will mark the 10th anniversary of the death of Cesar Chavez, the founder of the United Farm Workers Union. This discussion will revolve around the status of Latino/a farmworkers over the past ten years. Specific topics will include immigration, on-going legislative efforts in California to strengthen farmworkers' rights to collective bargaining, and the possibilities for coalition-building among farmworker advocates and organic food supporters.
