Join the OGS

How does one go about joining the Online Gaming Society? Simple. Check the events page for details on the next meeting, look for announcements on the bboard assocs.ogs, or fill out the form below to submit your name for inclusion in our mailing list. Please be aware that you will not be automatically added to the mailing list after filling out this form; your information will be received by an OGS member and processed as promptly as possible.

While the OGS receives funding from Student Senate, our budget is supplemented with modest annual dues and participation fees for some events. Please realize that as a young organization, it is not always easy to obtain substantial funds from Senate alone. Your participation and support will help make OGS a success!

Why Become a Member?

Many OGS events are open to the Carnegie Mellon community, but members are entitled to several benefits and privileges. In exchange for modest dues ($10 per academic year), members receive:

• Voting rights. Members can directly influence the actions of the organization.
• Recognition as an official member. With your membership card, you officially become an OGS member. You will appear in the OGS members listing, receive mailings from the club, and will be invited to register for events first.
• Ability to run for office. Only OGS members can run for office, as stated in the charter. Elections are held at the end of each academic year. Officers, when elected, take the position for a period of one year.
• Tournament entry priority. If there are more registrants for a tournament than there are open spaces, OGS members will take priority.
• Referee privileges. Referees help to administer tournaments on campus. Only OGS members are permitted to be referees.
• Members-only events. These will include strategy sessions, private tournaments, and other events to be announced.
• Free access to snacks at events. At some events, snacks will be provided. For non-members, a small charge may apply to defray the cost; members will snack for free with their membership card.
• Membership in a community. Yes, it sounds corny, but the OGS brings together folks from all across campus that have a common interest. Registering as an OGS member signifies your interest in gaming, and helps to finance events that allow you to bond with your fellow gamer.
