Design Challenge

 
 

The objective of the project was to design and build a mechanism, powered by a standard servomotor, which would lift a cylindrical weight.  The mechanism was to be clamped (pictured bottom right) to the playing field,  and must pass through one of two holes in the wooden divider, without making contact with the aforementioned obstacle.  The mechanism could not exceed 20 oz, and had to lift the cylindrical weight 2 inches.  The primary building material for the mechanism was to be thin strips of aluminum.
