Fairbanks Morse and Company

Fairbanks Morse and Company was based in Beloit, Wisconsin. Their products used an opposed-piston engine which had come into widespread use for ships, but which initially performed poorly in locomotives. By the time all of the problems were straightened out, FM had been left far behind in the diesel world.
