Instructions:
  • Clicking on "Unmodified" loads the structure for the non-mutated or unmodified enzyme.
  • Clicking on "Trp1" loads the structure for the first mutant, "Trp2" loads the structure of the 2nd mutant, etc.
  • Clicking on "Simple View" shows the backbone atoms, a bound substrate (Ala-Ala-Arg-Ala-Ala) in thick sticks + spheres for atoms, and the sidechains of some important residues on the enzyme in thinner sticks.
  • +/- Sub will add and remove the substrate.
  • +/- Surf. on Sub will add or remove a gray surface on the substrate (be patient).
  • +/- Surface on triad will place a yellow surface over the three residues in the catalytic triad.
  • +/- Surface on #189 will place a red surface over the sidechain of residue 189.
Note:You may find that clicking on an atom no longer identifies the atom at the bottom of the browser window. In this case you need to 'Set Picking' to 'Label'. To do so follow the following instructions:
  1. Depress the right mouse button to get the pop-up menu.
  2. Select 'Set Picking'
  3. Select 'Label'
Now when you click on an atom, the label will appear in the Jmol window, next to the atom.
