Biochemistry I - Energy and Equilibrium

Effect of Energy on Equilibrium

This page will calculate the equilbrium position of a reaction after entering the energy of the ground state energy (reactants) and the energy of the products. The energy difference between the two states is positive if the products are higher in energy. The fraction of reactants and products associated with these energies is calculated.
fReactant=[Reactant]/([Reactant]+[Product]).
Population considers the relative amount of each fraction. You want to think about how does the energy of the reactants, relative to the products, changes the amount of each state.

1. Enter a value for ground state energy in this box:
EReactant = kJ/mol
EProduct = kJ/mol
2. For the above value of energies:
Click on this link to determine the fraction of reactants and products.
