Read the article "A Pschylogical Analysis of Conflict, Choice and
Commitment" by Janis and Mann and answer the following questions.
Please be brief and to the point. This article is the handout given in
class on Jan 25 titled "Chapter 2 Decision Making Strategies".
- What is satisficing? How does it differ from an optimizing strategy?
- What accounts for the use of satisficing by human decision makers?
How, if at all, might the availablility of a decision support system change matters?
- State elimination by aspects as a step by step procedure that can be implemented as a computer program. To demonstrate that it can arrive at a decision, apply the procedure to an example. Choose an example other than that given in the paper on page 31.
