In that vein, I offer: -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- The Scotch and Soda Technical Coordinator Decathlon -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Contestants will start at the entrance to the dungeon, and will have the same resources given to any TD during a show, except for a budget. There are timing bonuses and penaities for most events, which will be applied as applicable. Contestants compete at their own risks. Build & Paint: 1. Build one 20' muslin periaktoi. Applicable Bonuses: 0:30 - If it is built in its entierety in the dungeon, and you manage to get it out without modification. 2. Leg and crossbrace 4 4x8 platforms. Platforms must be raked. Applicable Bonuses: 0:20 - Build a level table for the raked stage. Table must be movable. 0:30 - No angles on the platforms (completely curved) 3. Paint and texture the periaktoi. You must not use any color currently available in the dungeon, instead, mix your own. Applicable Bonuses: 1:00 - Complete use of perspective brick. 0:25 - Any mouth-pipetting of paint during this task. 4. Hang Shaft. Applicable Bonuses: 0:05 - use of vinyl-coverd AC, without removing the vinyl, without a cable breaking 0:10 - hanging shaft in PH100, no ladder 0:30 - hang shaft in a curve 0:20 - [additional hang shaft in a curve *without* unscrewing parts of the curve structure after hanging it. 1:00 - hang shaft in rangos without moving the genie -1:00 - [penalty] saddle a dead horse 1:00 - [amusement bonus] saddle an actual dead horse. Lighting: 3. Run DMX through the cable tray from rangos's stage left to the balcony. If the cable is the wrong direction when complete, rerun the cable. 4. Repair a dead piece of lighting equipment: Applicable Bonuses: 0:10 - Rewire an instrument it while it is [electrically] hot 0:05 - It is one of vincent's spotlights 0:10 - (...and you arrange to get paid for it) 0:15 - Rewire an instrument while it is [electrically] hot in the middle of a show. 1:00 - Rewire a dimmer rack, while hot, but without a connected neutral, in the middle of a show. 5. Coil Garage LC. Applicable Bonuses: 0:15 - More of it is working when you are done than when you started. Sound: 6. Acquire permits to fire the starter pistols. Then do so. (Preferably, not in the middle of the cut). Applicable Bonuses: 0:15 - If you can fire two shots without a misfire. 7. Correctly position a wireless microphone on an act(or/tress) without contact that would otherwise be considered inappropriate. Applicable Bonuses: 0:20 - Convince act(or/tress) to wear said microphone with a condom. 0:20 - Ring this out with a 2 band parametric eq Props: 8. Acquire, by any means necessary (other than spending money) the following 3 props: - a wood-buring oven - "My Buddy" doll, in original packaging (bonus of 1:00 if you also acquire "Kid Sister") - Helicoptor (What, you didn't know we were doing Miss Saigon next year?) Applicable Bonuses: 0:20 - If you can convince someone to pay you to take the prop. Costumes: 9. Design and construct an original period costume of 1920s formal wear that is functional for a 5 second quick-change. Stage Management 10. Orchestrate a 2 person runcrew to complete 10 scene changes. Each scene change must completely replace the set as seen by the audience. No furniture may be reused between scene changes. All furniture for show must be stored in an area no larger than 50 square feet. (See also: "The Heidi Chronicles") Applicable Bonuses: 0:20 - no use of glow tape 0:30 - no use of any sort of tape 0:40 - no use of the second person. -1:00 - [penalty] for each minute after the 3rd that you spend at this event -1:00 - [penalty] for trapping part of your crew onstage/in the set after the set changes has finished -0:30 - [additional penalty] failure to realize that your crew member is, in fact, trapped on the stage. Overall bonuses: 0:30 - per injury sustained in accomplishing these tasks 0:15 - additional bonus if the injury is treated solely with available theatrical supplies (gaffers tape, muslin, tie line, crosbys, etc) 0:10 - additional bonus if the injury involves moving the genie in any way (The Bonus Round, in the event of a tie) Administrative: 11.
