About Me
I am a graduate student at Carnegie Mellon University pursuing MS in Computer Science. My interest lies in computer vision and building scalable systems for visual computing tasks
Education
M.S. Computer Science
Carnegie Mellon University
2016 - 2017
M.Sc. (Honours) Economics
Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani
2011 - 2016
B.E. (Honours) Computer Science
Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani
2011 - 2016
Projects
Optical Character Recognizer using Neural Networks Fall 2016
- Built a classifier to categorize the 26 letters and 10 digits using a single hidden layer fully connected feed forward neural network
- Obtained an accuracy of (approximately) 91% on the NIST dataset
Facial Expression Recognition in real time using Neural Networks Fall 2016
- Designed a 4-layer neural network using Torch and Lua to classify a human emotion as: happy, surprised, neutral, sad and angry
- Obtained an accuracy of 51% on a corpus of 28,709 48X48 grayscale images
Scene Classification using Spatial Pyramid Matching Fall 2016
Built a scene classifier for the following categories: aquarium, beach, bridge and waterfall using Spatial Pyramid Matching, an extension of the Bag-of-Words approach
Image Stitching tool based on Feature Matching and Homography Fall 2016
- Implemented Binary Robust Independent Elementary Features (BRIEF) descriptor to detect and describe the features in an image
- Stitched together different images using feature matching and homography to create a panorama
Inverse Compositional Lucas Kanade (LK) tracker Fall 2016
- Developed the LK tracker with a single template and generalized it to accommodate for large appearance variance
- Implemented motion subtraction to track moving pixels in a scene
3D Reconstruction Fall 2016
Utilized multiview geometry to obtain 3D reconstruction of the Middlebury multiview ‘temple’
dataset
Compiler Construction Spring 2015
- Built a Compiler targeting the Intel 8086 architecture for a self designed language in ANSI C
- Used dead code elimination and common sub-expression elimination to produce an optimized 3-address target code
Experience
Qubole Bangalore, India
Software Engineering Intern Jan 2016 - Jun 2016
- Designed an API for open source query engine Presto to access databases stored on multiple platforms on the AWS cluster
- Made improvements to the Qubole’s Presto, Spark and Zeppelin offerings and data import/export tool based on Sqoop
Microsoft Hyderabad, India
Software Engineering Intern Jan 2015 - Jun 2015
- Automated the deployment of an application to AWS Beanstalk as a part of Release Management hub in Visual Studio Online
- Engineered the Release Management hub in Visual Studio Online to work on Linux platform
Ludwig Maximilian University Munich, Germany
Research Intern Jan 2014 - Jun 2014
