program notes: "A Something in a Summer's Day" was adapted from the first movement of the composer's vocal suite, Four Nature Canticles (2011). The text for that movement was taken from a poem by Emily Dickinson. The movement was adapted for a premiere by flutist Lindsey Goodman and pianist Robert Frankenberry for Resonance Works' Chamber Series, which features performances in 'alternative' venues in the Pittsburgh area—in this instance, Bar Marco on Penn Avenue in the city's historic Strip District.
