Connecting a Photon to CMU Wi-Fi ================================ 1. Visit https://www.particle.io and establish an account at Particle. 2. Plug a Photon in to your laptop's USB port to provide power. 3. We need the Photon to be in listening mode - where the Photon is not trying to connect to Wi-Fi. To enter listening mode, hold down the setup button until the light blinks a dark blue. 4. Using Chrome, Firefox, or Opera, visit https://setup.particle.io and log in. 5. Our goal is to set up a Photon. Select Photon / P series option. 6. Note the requirements and select Next. 7. Choose to download the photonsetup.html file. To do so, choose the "continue with local file" option. 8. Open the file in Chrome, Firefox, or Opera. 9. Outside of the browser, choose Photon-XXXX from your Wi-Fi network list. There is a pause while your machine connects to Wi-Fi on the Photon. 10. Once we have connected to the Photon, we need to provide the name of the network we want the Photon to access. Select from the drop down list the name of your Wi-Fi network as CMU-DEVICE. 11. Check the box "The network has a hidden SSID". 12. Now, you must type in the name CMU-DEVICE under SSID (the name of your Wi-Fi network). Note: We are entering that name twice. Once with a drop down list and again by typing. 13. Select the Security type as Open. 14. Leave the password as empty and select Next. 15. After a few moments, you Photon should breathe cyan. Your Photon is connected to the CMU W-Fi.
