Chopin was born in 1810. Originally from Poland, he moved to France when he was 20 to escape unrest in the region. He died in 1849 at the young age of 39, likely due to tuberculosis. Despite this, he is one of the most celebrated composers of the 1800s, having produced hundreds of original (and beautiful!) pieces. His legacy lives on through organizations like the Chopin Institute and the International Chopin Piano Competition.
