Travel & Lodging

Champaign and Urbana are located in the East Central part of Illinois at the intersection of Interstate Highways I-57, I-74, and I-72. The cities are conveniently located 135 miles (222 km) south of Chicago (2.5 hour drive from O'Hare International Airport), 120 miles (200 km west) of Indianapolis, and 185 miles (270 km) northeast of St. Louis.

Air transportation

The closest airport to the meeting headquarters is Willard Airport. It is listed as the Champaign, Illinois airport (approximately 5 miles (8 km) south of campus). Daily flights are offered to and from Chicago O'Hare and Dallas-Fort Worth (by American Eagle), Detroit (by Northwest Airlink), and Cincinnati (by Delta Connection). Go to the Willard Airport web site and click on "Flight Schedule" for the latest info.

Note that if you decide to fly into one of the Chicago airports, it is a three (3) hour trip to Champaign via bus. There is not a direct train from the Chicago airports to Champaign.

Transportation from Willard Airport

Transportation to the campus is also available these methods:

Taxi and shuttle bus transportation from airport to campus costs between $10 and $15. There are several taxis that service Willard Airport. One of them is Illini Limo/C-U Taxi who can be reached at (217) 384-5892.
The Hampton Inn also operates a complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport. They have a phone in the kiosk in the baggage area of the airport.
The Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District operates a bus that runs between Willard Airport and downtown Champaign. The bus does stop at the Illini Union. Cost is $1.00 per ride.

LEX Lincolnland Express provides bus service between Champaign and Chicago O'Hare, Chicago Midway, and Indianapolis - check their web site for a schedule. Advanced reservations are necessary.
Greyhound has a station in Champaign.
Amtrak comes to Champaign from Chicago and New Orleans.
