•Recover the slowly
varying signal by going through a full-wave rectifier (abs[]
function) … note the dips are at twice the modulation frequency, exactly as
expected for |sin[]| or |cos[]|
•Smooth this with a low pass filter to remove the fast oscillations, so only the envelope (a
replica of the original signal) remains
