Dither: DAC
•The analog output of a DAC is one of a (fairly small) number of discrete levels.  The abrupt transitions between these levels are apparently deleterious to perceived audio quality.  Adding ~1 bit (RMS) of noise to the DAC output blurs these “jaggies”, improving the perceived quality.
