Road Trip Lunch Time
Road Trip Lunch Time
After our visit to the Beach Resort, all of us were really quite hungry. I had read about a Turkish restaurant in a “guide blurb” for Al Khor. We had spied one on our quick spin about town before we went to the Resort. So we headed back to it as soon as we got back into the car. It’s amazing how good one’s sense of direction can be when you’re hungry. In 5 minutes we were at Diwaniyat Bukhari Al-Arab Restaurant. As many will say, if you can’t find a place to park outside a restaurant, it’s probably a good one. This must have been true as we got to the restaurant quickly but had trouble parking. Later we learned that part of the problem was that they also do a drive by business and that’s part of the reason for the heavy traffic in front of the doors.
Well we simply had a feast ! The three of us ordered 4 appetizers (Hummous, Babagannush, Tabouleh, and a Green Salad). Then we each ordered a main dish. I ordered Chicken Kofta, Lil ordered Lamb Chops, and Georg ordered Bukhari Hamour Fish. It was soo good. Here’s some snapshots of the table as it filled up and then emptied.
Check out the hot-from-the-oven bread we got.
All the main dishes came out covered up with hot spiced soft flat bread, sort of like tortillas.
The lamb chops and fish were really good. We all shared everything.
Here we are taking a breather from eating
Here’s the requisite Peter pointing at something picture.
After lunch, it was out for more sightseeing driving around the rest of Al Khor...it was afterall, 105°F.
