Task 1
Prompt: “Hi chat gpt, Can you give me a puzzle to solve?” Answer: Here’s a classic, clean brain-burner:
The 12-Coin Counterfeit Puzzle
You have 12 coins. One is counterfeit and differs in weight (could be heavier or lighter); the other 11 are genuine and identical. You have a balance scale and may use it at most three times.
Task: Determine which coin is counterfeit and whether it is heavier or lighter, in three weighings.
Rules:
- A balance scale only tells you left pan heavier / right pan heavier / balance.
- You can place any number of coins on either side (including zero).
- You may reuse coins across weighings and choose the next weighing based on prior outcomes.
Give me your weighing plan (what you put on each side for the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd weighings) and how you’ll interpret each possible result to identify the bad coin and its bias.
If you want a hint, say “hint 1” and I’ll give a minimal nudge.
