- An "allele" is a different form of the same gene. The other incorrect answers are meaningless.
- The correct answer is a definition of a conditional mutation.
- The description of the result is "complementation"; the interpretation of the result is that the two mutations are in different genes.
- The strains are described simply as revertants, meaning only the wild-type phenotype. Additional experiments would be required to distinguish true revertants from e.g. pseudorevertants, suppressor-containing strains, etc.
