My name is pronounced [Ga -gene], h is silent.
Personal Section is currently under construction, but here's a brief
description of my current status.
I am a PhD student in the Human Computer Interaction Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. I am very excited about learning and contributing to this field!
Here's my "elevator
speech":
I am working on designing automatically generated summaries that can
be used by instructors to monitor how well a group is functioning. For
example, if a teacher is monitoring an on-line forum for a class where
students post messages related to their group work, he can just look
at this automatically generated summary that indicates which students
or which groups of students are having trouble, which will save him
from having to read all the messages on the board. So far, I have identified
ten assessment categories that instructors look for in order to make
judgments on how well a group is functioning. I am currently looking
into 2 issues: whether these ten assessment categories are sufficient
and how one could measure theses assessment categories automatically.
