SanJose13.JPG Front of the Museo de Oro. They have a large collection of pre-Columbian gold from all over the country. Snakes and frogs were a favorite motif for the jewelry and religious artefacts.
They also had a separate exhibit of Costa Rican coins and currency from the 1500's to the present. (The Tico monetary unit, the Colon, is named after Christobel Colon. That's the Spanish name of the famous Italian who in 1492 . . .)
