Global Warming

Global Warming is the increase in the avergae measured temperature of the Earth’s near-surface air and oceans since the mid-20th century, and its projected continuation.  Over the past 50 years, the average global temperature has increased at the fastest rate in recoarded history. Furthermore, Climate model projections summarized by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) indicate that average global surface temperature will likely rise a further 1.1 to 6.4 °C ( 2.0 to 11.5 °F) during this century.

Water Management Strategies

Water Managers – including water districts and local, state, and federal agencies with water-related resource management responsibilities – play a key role in Western communities by identifying potential water-related problems and pointing the way to solutions.  In fact, water managers can lead the response to ongoing climate changes and help stave off further damage.

New Nuclear Power Plants

Until building new nuclear power plants becomes economically viable without government subsidies, and the nuclear industry demonstrates it can further reduce the continuing security and environmental risks of nuclear power . However, expanding nuclear power is not a sound strategy for diversifying America’s energy portfolio and reducing global warming pollution. Sollutions which are more practical, economical , and environmentallyy sustainalbe approaches to reducing both U.S. and global carbon emissions are favored.
