Welcome to my website! My name is Wei-Feng Huang, and now I'm a graduate student at Entertainment Technology Center of Carnegie Mellon University. Before I attended this master program in America, I received my Computer Science B.S degree in National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan, where I was born and raised. After finishing my military service (a second lieutenant in anti-aircraft artillery battery in Taiwan), I came here to pursue my dream.
Since the first NES I got at the age of 6, I was always an addictive player of video games. Initially, my enjoyment was purely motivated by achievement and being fascinated by the visceral experience of gaming. As I played a broader range of games, I began to be less and less satisfied with simple competition, and started analyzing games with a more critical eye, looking at them as pieces of art that bring together music, sound effects, voice acting, visuals, and artistic creativity. Like many other young people who grew up on games, I began to think to myself, “Why not try and make a game of my own?”
As a result, in my college year, I spent most of my course time on game relative subjects like computer graphic, virtual reality and game programming, and tried to design/program game with classmates who sharing the common interest. The game development processes were quite enjoyable for me, and they made me begin to look for some bigger projects – with professional teams and resources. When I found ETC is a project-driven program with clients like Disney and Microsoft, I knew this is my next step, towards becoming a professional game programmer, which is so sweet and exactly what I want!
