This document describes the state of the existing Windows 2000 Active
Directory environment and our future plans.

2.0 Initial Statement
---------------------

We have no immediate plans to remove the existing AD.CMU.EDU
forest. The AD.CMU.EDU forest will continue to run in an basis to
support Windows 9x, Windows ME, NT 4, Macintosh 9.x, and Windows 2000
clients.

The exact phase out date of this domain is yet to be determined. Many
factors will contribute to this, most specifically, how soon can we
drop support for "obsolete" Windows operating systems.
