Vijay Viswanathan's Personal Page

Born in Ann Arbor, Michigan and from South Indian heritage, I've lived in Pittsburgh, PA for most of my life. I now study mathematics here at Carnegie Mellon University, as a proud member of the Class of 2016.

I am a passionate ultimate frisbee player. I competed for my high school's ultimate team for four years and I still play whenever I have the chance. I used to be a competitive debater and extemporaneous speaker in high school, and I have made some great memories from speech and debate. Currently in college am primarily involved in robotics research and math competitions. I also am a pledge for the Sigma Nu fraternity and a member of the Mayur South Asian Student Alliance.

I am deeply interested in Indian culture and I try to stay connected with my Hindu faith and cultural activities. I'm also always on the lookout for good music, with some of my current favorite musical acts including Vampire Weekend, Real Estate, Tallest Man on Earth, Jay-Z, and Frank Ocean.

I'm extremely interested in both research and entrepreneurship. I love hearing about great, disruptive ideas with the potential for change. My most recent ideas and achievements can be seen with my projects or on my resume.
