  • Develop multiperiod mixed-integer optimization models (MILP, MINLP, Disjunctive Programming) and algorithms for the optimization of long-range term decisions regarding investment, capacity expansion and supply chain management.
  • Major areas of concentration are planning of process networks, biorefineries and offshore gas and oil field exploration systems.

Planning under Uncertainty, Stochastic Programming

  • The handling of uncertainties in capacity expansion planning and scheduling of process networks, gas and oil exploration systems using multistage stochastic programming framework.
  • Incorporate uncertainty in exogenous and endogenous parameters like product demand, process yields, reservoir size and its quality within the model.
  • Develop decomposition algorithms and aggregated models for industrial size problems in this category.
