Design at Morningstar
Design teams at Morningstar work in a cross-disciplinary environment, interacting with writers, site coordinators, product managers, programmers and other technical experts on a daily basis. Creative skill sets have not been as narrowly defined as at some web development companies, so designers are involved in a broad range of the interface design process including information design, interaction design and technical design.

The nature of Morningstar's online content is varied and complex: financial data, feature articles, and interactive tools and applications. Our overall goal is to present this information to individual investors with the utmost clarity and simplicity. Designers should therefore be interested in and skilled at solving challenging information and communication design problems. Strong typographic skills and a desire to create compelling visual communication documents are required. Since financial services is one of the most competitive businesses on the Web, a strong desire to compete by using design to make Morningstar a financial and critical success is a plus.

Design at Morningstar is recognized at the highest levels of the company and is seen as a core skill, integral to our success. While most designers at the company work for a specific business unit, it is the company's goal to build a strong visually unified global brand.
