I have a well developed portfolio idea with some dyanmic elements coming up. With a little help, the new design will be coming in my soon to be new domain. For the meantime, you can check out my deviantArt for more casual artworks I have been doing. Plus, you're always free to shoot me an email for recent works which are more professional. Ciaossu.

We're due for an update, aren't we? Added: tracks and niche trees proposal (under digital and graphic respectively). Additionally, check out GCS's games, the ones from this semester will be posted soon :)! Finally, over the summer, I will be purchasing a domain which will be the new host of my portfolio among other things. Expect change!

Based on some critique, a few changes have been made. The color scheme is slightly darker, there is now a "return to top" link at the bottom of every section, and sketch has been reorganized. Additionally, alignment in IE has been fixed, and games have been updated. I hope this makes for a better viewing experience, and Happy late Chinese New Year!

+Conceptual
Natural Tea | A project done to develop a sense for seeing detail. Each individual picture adds up to ultimately depict a tea cup with a 'lemon.' Using items found outdoors provided an all 'natural' tea almost ironic crossover.
Dante's Shadow | A take on Dante's Divine Comedy. The self portrait element using the poetry depicts myself and my attitude toward the message. I would think that my apathy toward heaven and hell would lead me to be stuck in the abyss of infinite muck.
+Digital
Rotten Apples | A photo manipulation using an ad to change its meaning. A vintage Apple ad was taken and changed to depict an undesirable product. The Mac itself was removed, the floppy disks were changed into tiles, and the mouse is now 'dead.'
The Painter | A flash animation using another's soundscape. The Painter paints abstract forms on the canvas reflecting the sounds. Only five colors were used to emphasize the forms and movement. Click here to download the flash animation.
Visual Disc Jockey | A program built with Processing that was used to perform with a song of choice. I used Butterfly (Upswing Remix) by ddk.Smile. The bright cyan-yellow spectrum reflects the upbeat tune. Click here to view the program.
Spring: A Forbbiden Winter Wish | A horizontally dominant five series photograph work(the actual printed out version is five feet long and about a foot tall). The only guideline we had were to document tracks in the snow. I chose to document my own tracks, including my footprints coming off from the sidewalk into the snow, around the sewer cap, and then from the "calligraphy" in the snow on the bench. The word written in the bench is the Chinese character for spring. This exercise was done toward the beginning of the first winter when I saw snow, for the first time. As a note, snow disappoints me. It was always flushed lavender in paintings, but it's actually brown and slushy. Which is why I wished for a spring day. The word chun(Chinese for spring) actually has multiple meanings: spring (time); gay; joyful; youthful; love; lust; life(source). Click on the picture for a larger version!

Asia Kitchen Take Out | I have been designing my family restaurant's menu since 2003. This is the most recent rendition, and my fifth design.
Asia Kitchen Dine In | We have only owned one major dine in restaurant, and this is the menu which we used to cater those who chose to sit in. I also took the photographs seen in the design. Just as a note, this version and the version shown above are not for the same restaurant.
Golden Eyes | A self portrait vector. The goal was to convey form using minimal but powerful elements. Also, it gives a taste of my personality through the choice of color.
Niche Trees | Proposal done for Concept Studio: EcoArt. Click image for the big version which has all the information and concepts that I will not repeat here. Check out the blogspot page for more details on the final endeavor: click here.
+Sketch
Beta | Drawn from life still of a beta, persimmon, clementine, and basket. Done in graphite (H-9B).
Inverted | Drawn from life still of a paint bucket and iron. The highlights and shadows are drawn in their inverted colors. Done in charcoal.

Styrofoam Study | A study of a styrofoam box in two point perspective. Done in graphite (H-9B).
Figure II | Life drawing in three point perspective. Done in graphite (F).
Encoder's Dream | An imaginary worm eye's view in three point perspective of a form largely inspired by the anime Dennou Coil. Done in charcoal.
Figure III | Life drawing with emphasis on tone. Done in conte and charcoal.
Figure IV | Life drawing with emphasis on tone. Done in conte and charcoal.
Figure V | An older figure drawing from life. Done in graphite (H-B).

+Drawing
Sweet Dreams | An expressionistic work done of two kittens sleeping in a flower pot. Done in oil pastels.
The Likeness of Love | Portraits done for a collaborative project in high school. Photographs of children from India were turned into timeless works of art. To find out more information regarding the organization click here. Done in graphite (H-9B).
Iced Tea | Final for 2D Media I. The assignment required a drawing done in three point perspective (bird's or worm's eye view). I chose to do a giant teacup floating over the south pole in tribute to tea, penguins, and world peace. Done in graphite (H-9B), blue pastel, and ink brush.
Corno Graffiti | Outside work for 2D Media I. A transformation of a still life to an imaginary form. Maize (corn) kernels turned into red balloons while the husk served as the strings. Done in charcoal and red pastel.
Shop-a-holics Anonymous | A project using solely contour lines to express form. An unidentified figure grasps a credit card. The theme for the project was "Shoes as Social Commentary." Done in graphite (HB-8B) and ink.
Ribbon | It's a pun! Another older take on the idea of transformation. Done in ink.
+Painting
Rose Garden | An appropriation of a landscape. Done in oils.
Burning Dusk | A warm sunset complete with two deer. Done in oils.
Utopian Skies | Skyscape of what a peaceful world may be like. Done in oils.
Between the Seasons | An appropriation of an artist who specializes in pure geometric forms. Done in oils.
Class | A classy still life of flowers and fruits. Done in gouache on canvas.
Golden | A still life that complements 'Class.' Also done in gouache.
Archway | A perspective, structural painting depicting archways and afternoon glow. Done in gouache.
Silent Life | A very old appropriation piece, but one of my favourites. Done in oils.
+Sculpture
Banana Study | Photographs of a banana as it is eaten over time. The matter of interest will be its silhouette. These will be used as parts of a 3d sculpture.

Fishy | Selected images were used to create these two graphics. The one on the left depicts a blowfish. The second a face. But both are up for interpretation.

Fragility | Finally, the core banana shapes are painted in yellow gouache, while the rest of the circle is left blank. The gouache's flaky behavior on the plexiglas achieved a delicate and 'Chihuly-esque' look. The final product proved to be abstract.
Nested | As an 'exercise' for Eco Art Concept Studio, a nest and branch were crafted to convey some idea about the environment. The nest is made out of paper, since paper comes from trees, ironically, the processed wood now serves as a too bright to be a 'real' brown origami box. The branch is twisted from copper wire. Originally, the idea came from bonsai trees which are grown in contained environments using wire to guide their growth. In the absence of the actual branch, the sculpture piece becomes even more ironic since there is wire, but no branch. Origami flowers, and dried red leaves were added as to push further this contrast of humans wanting to guide nature back to revival while using items crafted from nature itself.
