STUDENT SENATE Meeting of 30 January 1996 Roll was taken at 5:00 PM. Meeting was called to order at 5:05 PM. Ex-Officio Reports: AB (Martin Dixon): This week's movies are Bonnie and Clyde, Kids, and The Amityville Horror. If you are interested in joining the Activities Board, send mail to ab@andrew or contact Martin Dixon. GSO (Kristi Guillory): No report. Greek Council (Jeff Polega): Greek Sing will be held on March 16. There will be a New Member Social held on February 5. Faculty Senate (Barbara Prevost): No report. Student Affairs (Barbara Prevost): We need nominations for students to be on University Committees for Sexual Harassment and Parking. The AIDS Policy committee met last week and will meet again this week to prepare a proposal to put before Senate in February. Thanks to the senators who have completed the infosheets, please turn one in if you have not. SDC (Katrina Lutz): No report. President (Gina Schuyler): There will be a voter registration drive on February 6, 7, and 8 in various locations throughout the campus. Congratulations to all those who worked on the Judy Resnik Commemoration Ceremony. Treasurer (Ray Ardire): No report. Committee Reports: Academic Affairs (Bryon Krug): This semester we plan to look into pricing at the Textbook Store, improving cooperation between departments, and cluster issues and availability. Dillon Lin will be representing Senate on the Faculty Senate Library Advisory Committee. Campus Affairs (Katherine Hart): No report. Funding and Recognition (Brian Mueller): There will be a budget seminar on February 5 from 5 to 6:30 in Student Center 205. Budget packets will be passed out on February 1, and will be due by February 21 at 4:30 to Mrs. Rudman in the Student Activities Office. To hand in packets electronically, connect to the Student Government computer as user "budget" with password "packet". Human Resources (Matt Bembenick): No report. Public Relations (Michael Rosenthal): Our first project, the Resnik Commemoration poster has been completed. Upcoming projects include advertising: AIDS education, University Policies, upcoming elections, Funding and Recognition proposals and the Voter Registration Drive. Chair (Brenden Mielke): Thanks to everyone who participated in the Resnik Commemoration. It was a success. Last week, I met with the College Coordinators and the Organization Advisors. Guest Speaker - Anne Shields from the Career Center. Mrs. Shields spoke about the new initiatives that the Career Center is implementing, such as: Company Ambassadors, an internship database, and putting the Care er Center on the World Wide Web. In the upcoming year the Career Center plans to: create an employer advisory group, undertake a thorough self assessment, search for more internships for H&SS, CS, and CFA students, and implement the Job Trak program. New Business from Committee: Filling Vacancies: Katherine Senderling - Heinz School: Approved by voice vote. Brian Mendelssohn - Member at Large: Approved by voice vote.
