STUDENT SENATE Meeting of 18 April 1995 Roll was taken at 5:00 PM. Meeting was called to order at 5:05 PM. Ex-Officio Reports: AB (Martin Dixon): This week's movies are: Thursday: Athens, GA Inside Out Friday: Mary Shelley's Frankenstein Sunday: 13 Ghosts The Billy Tipton Memorial Saxophone Quartet will be playing at Rodef Shalom on April 19 at 8 PM. 2 Bands will be playing in Doherty 2315 on Saturday, April 22. There will be a Coffeehouse on April 29. GSO (Oliver Schulte): No report. Greek Council (Christine Halberstadt): The first annual Greek Awards Banquet will be held on Tuesday, May 7 at 5:00 PM. There will be a Blood Drive on April 25 from 1:00 - 6:45. There will be a women's leadership program on April 19 at 7:00 PM in the West Wing TV room. On April 22, there will be an AIDS task force march at Flagstaff Hill in Schenley Park. Faculty Senate (Anne Shields): No report. Student Affairs (Kevin Hughes): On Wednesday, April 19, the "final beam" will be placed in the University Center. Readers are needed for a commemorative reading of names of persons who died in the Holocaust. Contact Daniella Topol for more information. SDC (Adam Davis): This week's movie is Young Frankenstein. A referendum on the smoking policy in the dorms will be held on April 19 at 8:00 in Doherty Hall 2 315. President (Kami White): The Health Services surveys distributed last week are in and results will be distributed soon. An open meeting to discuss transportation issues will be held soon. An open meeting of the bboard censorship committee will be held on April 19 at 4:30 in Doherty Hall 1112. Treasurer (Emma Gosden): Hockey, Spirit, Ultimate Frisbee, and the Student Body President accounts remain frozen. A updated breakdown of this year's budget was then presented and the WRCT antenna loan situation discussed. Committee Reports: Academic Affairs (Brian Mueller): No report. Campus Affairs (Brenden Mielke): We will have a meeting on April 20. We would like to thank the departing senators for their hard work this semester. Funding and Recognition (Merle Atkinson): No report. Human Resources (Troy Benowitz): No report. Public Relations (Eduardo Gonzalez): No report. Chair (Burt Holzman): The next meeting will be on May 2 at 5:00 in the Adamson Wing. Thanks to the elections board for their hard work. New Business From Committee: Motion to Suspend Fiscal Policy: Passed viva voce. Motion to Move Into a Committee of the Whole with Merle Atkinson as Chair: Passed viva voce. Amendment to PSFB budget: Change Line 8340 "Consulting" from $10,000 to $15,000. Change Line 8230 "Food & Travel" from $1,500 to $4,500. Failed by voice vote. Amendment to Student Union Budget: Add "The Student Union must have a printing contract by August 1, 1995, and this decision must be made known to the Student Affairs Office, the Student Senate, and the Student Body Treasurer or else the budget becomes null and void." Passed viva voce. Amendment to WRCT budget: Passed by acclamation. Amendment to the PSFB budget: Change Line 8340 "Consulting" from $10,000 to $12,000.
