Graduate Student Organization (William Slye): We are restarting the Activities Fee negotiations with Senate. A new committee is being formed for discussion and GSO has appointed six representatives. Greek Council (Adele Chiodo): We will be selling Greek T-shirts soon. A phone directory of fraternity and sorority members will come out this week. There will be a 3-on-3 basketball tournament on November 23, from 3-6 p.m. in the University Center gym. It is open to all. Registration fee is $9 per team and registrations will be taken the Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday before the tournament. We have a new programming chair and social chair. Panhellenic will be sponsoring a dance marathon soon. Faculty Senate (Barbara Prevost): No report. Division of Student Affairs (Barbara Prevost): No report. Student Dormitory Council (Michael Sperger): No report. President (Bryon Krug): The Task Force on Student Representation has finished its recommendations for increasing the effectiveness of student government. Contact me if you would like to a copy of their findings. Treasurer (Brian Mueller): No report. Committee Reports: Academic Affairs (Will Toraason): We will meet at 6:30 on Tuesday. We will be discussing the possibility of having the University Center open 24 hours during finals (food vendors would stay open, etc.). Campus Affairs (Robert Rumpf): No report Funding and Recognition (Avinash Jain): No report. Human Resources (Mike Szudarek): The complete Senate list is now ready, please make sure your information is correct. The talks with GSO will be restarted soon, and a group of senators is needed to sit on the committee. Send email to ss2p if you are interested. Public Relations (Matt Bembenick): Elections will be held on November 12 and 13 from 10:00 to 5:00, and November 14 from 10:00 to 6:00. Chair (Catherine Senderling): Budget packets for the fall budgets will be distributed tonight, and voted on at next week~s meeting. New Business From Committee: F96-016 FUNC Resolution: The group FUNC would like the Senate to encourages the administr ation to withhold statistical information from U.S. News and World Report~s college rankings Failed by hand vote, 1-7-10. F96-013 Non-Funded Recognition - Sushi Society: Passed by acclamation. F96-014 Special Allocation to Greek Council - $2000: The Greek Council is requesting up to $2000 to hire an independe nt appraiser to conduct a rental survey of fraternity housing. Passed by hand vote, 17-2-1. F96-015 Special Allocation to Speedskating Club - $250: The money is to pay for league dues. Passed by hand vote, 19-1. Approval of the Minutes: Minutes from October 28, 1996 were approved by acclamation. Announcements: ~ Elections are on November 12, 13, and 14.
