Special Business: Filling Vacancies: MCS - Jamie Chang: Passed by hand vote. Nomination of Funding and Recognition Chair - Avinash Jain: Passed by hand vote, 16-0. Nomination of Student Senate Chair - Catherine Senderling: Passed by hand vote, 16-0. Ex-Officio Reports: Activities Board (Jill Goodall): AB Coffeehouse is sponsoring a concert in the Skibo Coffeehouse on October 22. This week~s movies are, I Shot Andy Warhol in the McConomy Auditorium, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory in DH2210, and Cemetery Man in the McConomy Auditorium. On Friday October 25, Comedian Marc Moran will be in the Weigand Gymnasium. Journalist Brook Meeks will be speaking on October 30 in the McConomy Auditorium. SDC and AB have been talking with Dean Murphy about the purchase of a 35mm projector for the McConomy Auditorium. There will be an organizational open house on the 3rd floor of the University Center on October 25 from 4:00 to 6:00, feel free to stop by. Graduate Student Organization (William Slye): The wine tasting event was a big success, with over 600 people attending. The GSO is currently looking into ways of keeping Sree~s Foods from being removed from campus. Greek Council (Adele Chiodo): No report. Faculty Senate (Barbara Prevost): No report. Division of Student Affairs (Barbara Prevost): There will be a University Forum on the 1996 Campaign on October 24 at 4:45 in the Danforth Lounge. Homecoming is this weekend, look for event flyers and posters throughout campus. Student Dormitory Council (Michael Sperger): There will be no General Body Meeting on October 30. I will be resigning my position at the end of this semester, please refer to the front page of this week~s Tartan for details. President (Bryon Krug): The dance club idea proposed by Brian Mendelssohn has run into legal and facility problems. We are currently working with the administration and have more information next week. We are currently contacting other student government in the Pittsburgh area to see what types of issues they are working on and to see if we can work together on projects. The Student Liaison group to the Faculty Presidential Search Committee is looking for student input. The committee consists of Brenden Mielke, Katie Hart, Kimberly Wilson, Bill Slye, Jay Shankavaram, and myself. We are currently conducting small discussion groups to get a better idea of what students think. Contact any member of the committee, or email student-search@andrew if you are interested. Campus Affairs (Robert Rumpf): We are currently helping the fraternities get their houses appraised to determine if they are being charged too much by the university. We are looking into getting a ~big board~, listing all the events for the week on campus, in the University Center. Funding and Recognition (Avinash Jain): No report. Human Resources (Mike Szudarek): I am currently compiling a list of senators for distribution soon. Public Relations (Matt Bembenick): No report. Chair (Catherine Senderling): No report. New Business From Committee: F96-008 Non Funded Recognition - Kapatirang Pilipino: Passed by hand vote, 14-2. F96-009 Non Funded Recognition - Students for the Exploration and Discovery of Space: Passed by hand vote, 15-0-1. F96-010 Special Allocation - Activities Board: $1111 The Activities Board is requesting a new computer as one of thei r current computers has permanently crashed. Passed by hand vote, 16-1. F96-011 Special Allocation - Homecoming Committee: $2000 The committee will be sponsoring events for homecoming.
