Light jackets, sweaters, and the occasional pair of
gloves are perfect for October. Bring an umbrella just in case. You'll
have a chance to see the annual fall foliage shows on the hills and
valleys all around the area aboard the
Gateway Clipper Liberty Belle.

The Golden Triangle
Pittsburgh's compact downtown is truly
remarkable. In one easily walkable 11 by 11 block area, you'll find a
state park with a huge fountain, a thriving cultural district, a
wonderful sampling of architecture, shops of every description, and
the shortest free subway system in America.
Along the Riverfronts
The Boardwalk in the Strip District (just
beyond the Convention Center and DoubleTree Hotel) is a great
place to relax, unwind, and watch the boats come and go. Station
Square, across the Monongahela from downtown, is filled with shops,
boutiques, restaurants, and plenty of things to do and see. The North
Side, across the Allegheny from downtown, holds Three Rivers Stadium,
the Carnegie Science Center, the Andy Warhol Museum, the Penn Brewery
and a neighborhood filled with German flavor.
