About ANSYS, Inc.:

ANSYS, Inc., formerly Swanson Analysis Systems, Inc. (SASI), was founded in 1970 by Dr. John A. Swanson to develop, support, and market the ANSYS program, a finite element analysis code widely used in the computer-aided engineering field. The company has been headquartered since 1978 at its current location in Houston, Pennsylvania, just outside of Pittsburgh. Employment has grown from a few employees to more than 170 today, half of which are engineers or technical specialists. ANSYS software allows engineers to construct computer models of structures, machine components or systems; apply operating loads and other design criteria; and study physical responses, such as stress levels, temperature distributions, pressure, etc. It permits an evaluation of a design without having to build and destroy multiple prototypes in testing.
