Abstract
Numerical flow simulations for configurations with moving and deforming boundaries
usually require consecutive modifications of the grid in order to guarantee that
it remains boundary conforming. Three promising grid deformation techniques are
investigated: a relatively new conformal mapping approach, a solid-body elasticity
model and a spring analogy model. They all have in common that they run fully
automatic and are able to operate on any grid type which can be decomposed in
triangles. Their performance is assessed for hybrid grids around two different
configurations which display large boundary motion.
