Abstract
A 3D conforming/constrained triangulation algorithm based on
combinations of flips is presented in this paper. We introduce a
criterion "relative missing ratio" to measure the effectiveness
of a flipping procedure, and demonstrate by experiments that our
flipping algorithm is powerful and effective in form-ing a
conforming/constrained triangulation. Partic-ularly, the algorithm
yields a relative missing ratio less than 3% for our application,
in which surface and volume meshes of poor quality commonly occur.
That is, 97% of constraints can be recovered by the proposed
flipping method. We also introduce a cri-terion "absolute missing ratio"
for the comparison of different flipping methods.
