Abstract

This papaer addresses automatic detection of intrinsic geometric features (such as ridges and corners) in surface meshes. We propose characterizations and develop techniques for detecting such features. Our techniques have significant advantages in reliability and generality over traditional methods while being nearly optimal in performance. We integrate these techniques to match features in disparate meshes, a crucial step in correlating multiple meshes.
